– ROCK “Repaint 11-1979” illustrates a beautiful ROCK blue repaint!  This former Rock Island gray car  was repainted in 1979, at the tail end of the ROCK era.  The Tangent models wear our beautiful ROCK blue paint and the large “THE ROCK” (underlined) stenciling, plus large ROCK logo.  There is a lot going on with the stenciling here.  U-1 stencil is included, as well as stacked double COTS boxes.  Check out that El Reno weight stencil, too.  The models feature a see-through Apex-style running board, “Early-style” round roof hatches, body-mounted brake gear and Enterprise gravity outlet gates.  The B-end of the car features all of the brake details and piping of the prototype, including a gorgeous Universal 7400 brake stand, Universal brake wheel, Apex-style brake step, high-mounted retainer valve, wire piping details and a finely executed air release rod poking through the bottom sill on each side of the carbody.  Metal corner stirrup steps and flexible rubber air hoses on each end of the car provide durability.  The model rides on Tangent’s brand-new 70-Ton ASF A-3 Ride Control Roller Bearing trucks with Timken rotating bearing caps.  Tangent has created this single ROCK car number 507976 based on its appearance from prototype photos.
