Based on purpose-built pulpwood cars constructed by the Southern Iron and Equipment Company (SIECO) beginning in the 1960s, these distinctive flatcars remained in service into the 2000s hauling pulpwood from woodland loading points to paper mills.

The prototype's specialized design featured an open car body with a V-sloped deck and tall end bulkheads that helped contain pulpwood loads during transportation. WalthersProto recreates this recognizable freight car with detailed construction, separately applied components, a heavy die-cast metal frame, and premium running gear.
