Based on purpose-built pulpwood cars constructed by the Southern Iron and Equipment Company (SIECO) beginning in the 1960s, these distinctive cars remained in service into the 2000s hauling pulpwood between woodland loading points and paper mills.

The prototype's specialized open design featured a V-sloped deck and tall end bulkheads to help secure pulpwood loads in transit. WalthersProto recreates these distinctive freight cars with separately applied details, a heavy die-cast metal frame and premium running gear for reliable operation on an HO scale layout.
