Alclad II Transparent Paints
Alclad II Transparent Paints for Tinting and Layered Train Finishes
Alclad II Transparent Paints are made for tinting, shading, and subtly changing metallic finishes without hiding molded detail. On model trains, they are useful for layered effects, color variation, panel tinting, and custom finishing work on locomotives, passenger cars, and rolling stock.
Because transparent colors let underlying metallic tones show through, they are especially useful when you want more depth than a standard opaque paint can provide. They also pair well with brighter metallic bases and advanced airbrush work.
How Train Modelers Use Transparent Paints
- Tint metallic finishes on locomotives and passenger equipment
- Add panel shading and tonal variation
- Layer over metallic base coats for custom effects
- Create more depth on railroad display models and details
Use Primers for surface prep, build your base with Regular Finishes or High Shine, then add Transparent colors as needed. You can also combine them with Candy Colors, protect the finish with Clear Coats, or return to the main Alclad II collection.
