Compare the actual tree, not only the series
A small group near a cottage and a taller tree behind a station can have very different visual jobs. Check the model height against the structures already on the layout and decide whether the planting should frame, separate or fill a scenic area. A series label alone does not establish railroad scale.
Plan the surrounding railway scene
Consider trees around a station approach, on a village green, behind a farmhouse or at the edge of an open field. A deliberate planting can connect the railway to the surrounding town and landscape. Place the largest scenic features first, then test the tree positions around them. Leave an opening toward a platform, road or train-viewing point, and compare an isolated tree with a small group before choosing the final arrangement.
